About Jackie
Jackie has been working and studying in the area of complementary medicine for 20 years. Her passion for health was ignited when, as a teenager, she began working as a naturopath’s assistant in a busy clinic in Brisbane. It was here she developed a deep interest and respect for natural medicine, and decided to pursue a career in this area.
Jackie then studied in Brisbane and Melbourne, and Nanning, China, and attained a Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture and a certificate in Chinese massage. Since then Jackie has worked in several clinics, including ones specialising in the area of drug and alcohol rehabilitation and mental health, where she witnessed the profound benefits of using acupuncture as an adjunct treatment in these fields. In 2004, in Hobart, she started her first acupuncture clinic.
Jackie strongly believes in making complimentary medicine accessible to all people, and this motivated her to start a community acupuncture clinic at the Hobart Womens Health Centre in 2015. This involved treating several patients at the same time in the same space. The program ran for a year, during which she was able to treat a wide variety of conditions, and she is hoping to continue this program in the future.
In clinic, Jackie is presented and works with a wide variety of health conditions. She has a particular interest in working in the areas of IVF support, pregnancy care, and acupuncture in the treatment of chronic and acute pain. She commonly uses acupuncture and other techniques to assist back, neck and shoulder pain and injuries, tension headaches/migraines, hay fever, and much more. Jackie loves seeing the wonderful benefits acupuncture and massage can provide to patients, and loves watching how changed and relaxed people are after leaving the treatment room.
In a treatment session, after an initial consultation, you can expect to receive acupuncture, massage or cupping, or a combination of these according to your needs. Each treatment incorporates traditional methods of diagnosis and therapy, but relies strongly on up-to-date evidence to determine its effectiveness.
Jackie is a member of AACMA, the national association for Acupuncture and Chinese medicine, and is a registered acupuncturist with AHPRA, the national regulatory body. She undertakes professional development on a regular basis to fine tune her skills and keep up with the latest techniques.
When not in clinic, Jackie loves to bush walk, potter in the garden, watch movies and spend time with her two children and partner.
