The Hawrelak Gut and Microbiome Clinic - Associate

Michelle is a degree-qualified naturopath and herbalist who combines her clinical knowledge with a genuine passion for holistic health care. Michelle is dedicated to supporting people restore and optimise their health, particularly those struggling with chronic health conditions. Before joining the Hawrelak Gut and Microbiome Clinic, Michelle successfully ran her own naturopathic practice. In clinical practice, Michelle has treated people of all ages, seeking solutions for a varied range of health concerns, however she has consistently had a special interest in gut health and auto immune conditions.
Having personally navigated the challenges of living with an auto-immune inflammatory bowel disease since her teenage years, Michelle is motivated to help others manage their health challenges and achieve and maintain a good quality of life. Michelle’s entry into the field of naturopathy was inspired by the improvements she experienced in her own health when using food as medicine, incorporating lifestyle changes, and accessing the healing power of herbal medicine.

Michelle’s clinical focus encompasses all aspects of gut health and dysfunction, auto immune and skin conditions, women’s hormonal health, thyroid function, anxiety, low mood states, stress management, and metabolic health. As a mother, she appreciates the importance of supporting families through various life stages, from pre-conception through childhood and beyond.

Michelle has completed Dr Jason Hawrelak’s advanced training in Naturopathic and Functional Medicine Approaches to Gastrointestinal Disorders and Advanced Microbiome Manipulation. This specialised training, complemented by regular mentoring with Dr. Hawrelak, Dawn Whitten, and Kate Rix, and collaboration with her team, enhances Michelle’s ability to provide evidence-based, holistic care that integrates the latest clinical research with traditional naturopathic practices.

Driven by a desire to address the root causes of health issues, Michelle utilises functional testing and microbiome analysis as a key component of her customised treatment plans. This approach allows for a deeper insight into her patient’s health concerns, identifying underlying imbalances and dysfunctions that may be contributing to ongoing symptoms.

Outside of clinic, Michelle enjoys reformer pilates and running with friends, playing the piano and spending time with her family. Her happy place is being immersed in nature, snow skiing or enjoying a swim in the ocean.
